Diwali also known as the Festival of Lights is one of the most well-known Indian festivals marking the beginning of the Hindu New Year. It is a five day celebration marked with beautiful bright colors, oil lamps, and scrumptious food. Most Diwali celebrations around the world focus on loved ones and it is a time to reflect on the past and visualize a prosperous future.

Crusty elbow and knees skin is generally caused by a built up of dead skin cells. People tend to pay less attention to these areas, but with a little tender, love and care they will be as beautiful and soft as the rest of your body. When dry, elbow and knee skin will feel rough and calloused.
The solution?
Cut a lemon in half and take it into the shower with you. You first want to take some time to exfoliate your elbows and knees (sugar scrubs, apricot scrub, really any scrub will work fine), using circular motions until the skin softens. Next, you take half of the lemon and rub it around the elbows allowing the juice to sink in, do the same with the other half of the lemon. Do this to your knees as well.
“I know it sounds a bit weird but…” What follows is usually a strange piece of advice – anything from how to dry a zit overnight to getting rid of a hangover – that totally does the trick! It’s word of mouth beauty, little tidbits we pick up here and there, or by accident in desperate situations. One real gem I wish more of my lady friends would use is the powder in your roots trick. Leaving your hair unwashed long enough for it to look oily is gross, but knowingly walking around with an oily scalp and letting people know you skipped the shower is even worse. Maybe you have a good reason for not washing your hair, who am I to judge your nastiness? Maybe you’re trying to extend the life of a blow-dry. Or maybe you don’t have time to wash and dry your hair that particular day. Or maybe it’s against your beliefs to be clean, I don’t know. Point is there is a simple, easy, quick solution to fixing oily hair. First you must dig up a big fluffy makeup brush, and dip it into loose powder. Once you have your brush all powdered up, dust it over your roots and finger comb your hair allowing the powder to absorb any excess oils. Once you see that your roots look dry, brush your hair as you normally would.
I like to keep Johnson & Johnson baby powder handy in case I feel like being a nasty, lazy little bum.

I love to use shimmer along the bottom of my lash line, or on the inner corners of my eyes. It makes my eyes look brighter. Just don’t apply too much, as always keep the look subtle and blend away any hard lines. Lastly, curl your lashes and add a coat of brown mascara.

Bad breath is a definite deal-breaker!
If your breath smells “bad” because you enjoyed a scrumptious meal then fine, I won’t make an obvious stink-face when you speak to me…But come on people its time to make sure that your oral hygiene is up to par!
I was speaking to a lost soul the other day and all I could think about was how horrific his breath smelled. I could barely hear what he was saying because his breath was louder than his words. I was offended, why did he want me to suffer like that…what did I do to deserve to be tortured by his toxic mouth smell? I’ll never know I guess.
Even a half-wit can figure out how to maintain good oral hygiene: Visit the dentist regularly! Take the time to floss, brush (including the tongue), and rinse after every meal or at least twice a day.
There are a number of causes of bad breath. We know how to get rid of bad breath when we are at home near our toothbrushes right? I truly hope so…
But what can you do when you are not at home?
I like to keep a travel size bottle of Listerine in my bag at all times. It’s super inexpensive and it really comes in handy. You can also buy a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste…but again the travel size Listerine bottle is a MUST have!
If you’re out drinking and decided to leave your purse behind or your pals are being stingy with their gum…then go to the bar and grab a lemon wedge, sprinkle some salt on it and suck away! That should keep you from grossing out your lover or any potential lovers for the time being. Worst case, find water and swish it around in your mouth a few times!

I just finished watching the first season of Dexter and it is easily the best drama on Showtime. It is dark, funny, intelligent, twisted, exciting, charming with a touch of sweetness…basically everything I look for in a guy! Dexter is a forensic pathologist who deals with death…just in a very different way. He moonlights as a serial killer…he only murders people who deserve it… you know awful, horrible folks… people who harm the innocent. He will seduce you, to deny yourself the pleasure would be a huge mistake!!!
Wearing a cute dress and being warm are two of my favorite things. And that is precisely why I love wearing sweater dresses when fall rolls around. A sweater dress can be dressy or casual, you just have to accessorize accordingly. A sweater dress can look sexy on every body type… if you happen to be very petite then simply cinch your waist with a belt to give definition. And if your body is a bit more on the curvy side then try wearing some shapewear underneath the dress.
Depending on how warm it is out, you can try wearing leggings with a basic pair of flat boots or high-heeled pumps…too warm? Skip the leggings; personally I think the leggings bring the look together.
And remember, if you’re going to wear a belt with your sweater dress, make sure it sits high up on the waist, low slung belts can make the outfit look sloppy!
Lips that look drenched in red wine make you look sexy and glamorous. This is a gorgeous evening look.
The goal is to keep the look youthful. To achieve this look smooth concealer only where needed and use a bit of powder to even the skin tone. Do not cake on the powder; you want to be able to see the natural glow of the skin.
Next dab on a light berry cream blush on the lower cheeks to add just a hint of color. Some makeup artists like using lip pencil before filling in the lips, but it can look too harsh. Instead I like to use a small stiff brush and apply the deep burgundy lip color in short strokes along the natural lip line, and then fill in the rest of the mouth. Remember to keep lips moisturized with chapstick, dry chapped lips are distracting and disgusting. Gross!
For the eyes you want to use very minimal makeup, if any at all, this is the key to achieving the youthful look and avoiding the dramatic hooker look. Simply curl your lashes and use one or two coats of clear mascara.

…all the way home. Kim Kardashian was the 3rd celeb to get voted off DWTS this season. I was one of the many disappointed viewers who had been expecting a lot from Kim and her ‘assets’ instead she turned out to be one of the most boring performers to ever touch the DWTS stage. To make matters worse, she lost to the very charming Cloris Leachman who is about 195 years dead!
