There’s nothing like having skin that looks like it’s been kissed by the sun.  Tanned skin looks great and as an added bonus, makes the skin show less imperfections. Tanned skin gives the impression that your body is slimmer, and even tends to enhance facial features.  Now in no way am I suggesting that you go lay out in the sun for hours… DON’T do that.  I mean the exact opposite, if you don’t have perfectly tan skin, then I suggest using a sunless tanning product that does not turn your skin orange.  Because next to having imperfections stand out on pale skin, having orange as a skin tone is even worse, (see my post titled ‘Like the Oompa’).

Crusty elbow and knees skin is generally caused by a built up of dead skin cells. People tend to pay less attention to these areas, but with a little tender, love and care they will be as beautiful and soft as the rest of your body. When dry, elbow and knee skin will feel rough and calloused.

The solution?

Cut a lemon in half and take it into the shower with you. You first want to take some time to exfoliate your elbows and knees (sugar scrubs, apricot scrub, really any scrub will work fine), using circular motions until the skin softens. Next, you take half of the lemon and rub it around the elbows allowing the juice to sink in, do the same with the other half of the lemon. Do this to your knees as well.

“I know it sounds a bit weird but…” What follows is usually a strange piece of advice – anything from how to dry a zit overnight to getting rid of a hangover – that totally does the trick! It’s word of mouth beauty, little tidbits we pick up here and there, or by accident in desperate situations. One real gem I wish more of my lady friends would use is the powder in your roots trick. I like to keep Johnson & Johnson baby powder handy in case I feel like being a nasty, lazy little bum.

Bad breath is a definite deal-breaker!

If your breath smells “bad” because you enjoyed a scrumptious meal then fine, I won’t make an obvious stink-face when you speak to me…But come on people its time to make sure that your oral hygiene is up to par!

I was speaking to a lost soul the other day and all I could think about was how horrific his breath smelled. I could barely hear what he was saying because his breath was louder than his words. I was offended, why did he want me to suffer like that…what did I do to deserve to be tortured by his toxic mouth smell? I’ll never know I guess.

Even a half-wit can figure out how to maintain good oral hygiene: Visit the dentist regularly! Take the time to floss, brush (including the tongue), and rinse after every meal or at least twice a day.

There are a number of causes of bad breath. We know how to get rid of bad breath when we are at home near our toothbrushes right? I truly hope so…

But what can you do when you are not at home?

I like to keep a travel size bottle of Listerine in my bag at all times. It’s super inexpensive and it really comes in handy. You can also buy a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste…but again the travel size Listerine bottle is a MUST have!

If you’re out drinking and decided to leave your purse behind or your pals are being stingy with their gum…then go to the bar and grab a lemon wedge, sprinkle some salt on it and suck away! That should keep you from grossing out your lover or any potential lovers for the time being. Worst case, find water and swish it around in your mouth a few times!

Lips that look drenched in red wine make you look sexy and glamorous. This is a gorgeous evening look.

The goal is to keep the look youthful. To achieve this look smooth concealer only where needed and use a bit of powder to even the skin tone. Do not cake on the powder; you want to be able to see the natural glow of the skin.

Next dab on a light berry cream blush on the lower cheeks to add just a hint of color. Some makeup artists like using lip pencil before filling in the lips, but it can look too harsh. Instead I like to use a small stiff brush and apply the deep burgundy lip color in short strokes along the natural lip line, and then fill in the rest of the mouth. Remember to keep lips moisturized with chapstick, dry chapped lips are distracting and disgusting. Gross!

 For the eyes you want to use very minimal makeup, if any at all, this is the key to achieving the youthful look and avoiding the dramatic hooker look. Simply curl your lashes and use one or two coats of clear mascara.

It’s Friday, which means it’s time to ditch the work/school week look and step into your drop dead sexy date night look!

Shades of plum and mauve look sultry when applied in a light wash all the way around the eye. The look is a little younger, and fresher than your usual gray and black. Once you have applied the shimmery plum color to your lids, use a shadow brush to lightly smudge some shadow at the lower lash line.

Next line your eyes with dark black pencil and follow through with two coats of mascara. As always groom your brows, and add a hint of plum brush to the cheeks.

To keep your lips kissably soft, line your lips with a light plum lip pencil and add a conditioning lip balm.

Now that your face looks fresh and gorgeous, you will need head-turning hair!

Go for the sexy poker straight hair, the ideal finish should be glossy not greasy. The secret is to not use too many products. Simply work some high-shine setting spray through your hair after the blow dry.
